TEAR TROUGH FILLER

Tear Trough Filler: When we are tired, poorly or just simply through genetics, dark circles can really affect our beauty confidence.

The area between your lower eyelid and upper cheek is known as your tear trough and as we age, this becomes more prominent. Tear Trough Rejuvenation is a specialised non-surgical aesthetic treatment performed using a Hyaluronic Acid injectable gel like Juvederm with built-in Lidocaine. Restoring volume and helping to retain optimum skin moisture levels, the area looks lighter and brighter with a youthful vibrancy returned.

We recommend that this treatment is used in conjunction with an associated treatment plan as advised by Rupesh.

Why choose tear trough filler?
Some people who may be having problems with bags or shadows under the eye who wish to do something about them may consider surgery. However, this can be expensive and many people may not want to go under the knife. Thankfully, non-surgical procedures such as tear trough treatment can be very effective too and for a fraction of the cost. This makes it an excellent for those who want to rejuvenate the area around their eyes.

Why does one need filler under the eyes in the tear trough area?
The filler is meant to replace the natural “fat pad” structure that exists there to cushion and fill up the under eye area. With time, due to aging and genetics, the fat pad tissue shrinks and migrates, causing hollowness, which creates dark shadows under the eyes.

Are tear trough procedures painful?
Most patients when contemplating any cosmetic procedure will obviously be concerned about any possible pain that may be involved. We’re happy to report that there is little or no pain reported by the overwhelming majority of patients. As part of the procedure, a local anaesthetic is applied in the eye in the form of a cream before the treatment begins. This has the effect of numbing the area to make it comfortable for you.

What fillers are used for eye bags / tear troughs?
Tear trough procedures use a substance called hyaluronic acid. This is a safe substance that retains its shape and position much longer than alternatives such as collagen.

Are tear trough procedures reversible for eye bags / tear troughs?
Thanks to the fact that hyaluronic acid filler is used in these types of procedures, they are completely reversible. If in the unlikely occurrence that you do not like what your eyes look like after treatment, then it is easily remedied. Because hyaluronic acid is not permanent, it can be easily erased by injecting hyaluronidase. This dissolves all of the HA within minutes, returning the skin around your eyes to their original shape.

How long do the results last eye bags / tear troughs?
You’ll be happy to know that the results of tear trough treatments are long lasting, usually lasting from 1-2 years. Of course the exact length of time depends upon a number of factors. As well as the patient themselves, things such as exercise, diet, smoking and alcohol can have an effect. Once the results do start to fade, the treatment can simply be repeated.

Are their any side effects to be concerned about eye bags / tear troughs?
There are no major side effects that you should be concerned about. There may be some bruising and redness of the skin following the treatment, but this should calm down after about a week. For this reason, you consider the timing of your treatment if you have a special event or holiday planned.

How to treat under eye bags / tear troughs
There are 2 main ways in which we can treat tear troughs and under eye bags:

Method 1 : treating loss of cheek volume
Sometimes the trough forms because of loss of volume in the fat pads of the cheeks. If this is the case then treating the upper cheek with dermal filler can often provide good support to the under eye area and reduce the appearance of the tear trough.

Method 2:  injecting dermal filler directly into the tear trough itself
If you have good cheek volume and simply have a deep tear trough then dermal filler can be injected into the tear trough to lift the area and reduce the depth of the line. The downside of this method is a slightly higher bruising risk.

Do tear trough injections hurt?
There should be minimal pain with injection in the tear trough area.

Why does volume disappear from tear trough area?
It happens due to age appropriate volume loss.  Can also do to genetic causes.  You can use effective eye creams to prevent volume loss, wrinkles and dark circles.

Will I have bruising under my eyes from tear trough injections?
Bruising is always a possibility with any injection. Rupesh uses advanced injection techniques with minimal injection points to decrease risk of bruising.

How do I know if I have tear trough issue?
Shadows under your eyes can make you look tired.  If people ask you or if you feel you look tired, then this might be one of the reasons. As always, consultation with the expert is the best way to find the cause and the most appropriate treatment.
